چکیده

The rapid development of different areas of engineering, creation of new structures make the computational fracture mechanics a topic area. Among the most important applied problems there are structural strength problems, complicated by various flaws (cracks, delaminations, etc). The presence of cracks and delaminations considerably decreases the strength and the lifetime of the composite structures as well as significantly increases the cost of exploitation [1]. Unfortunately, the micro-defects cannot be fully avoided. Therefore a considerable body of work was devoted to cracks in homogeneous materials [2–4]. At the same time elastodynamic investigation of intercomponent cracks received much less attention due to the substantial complications which arise in numerical solution of such problems. Primarily the publications concerning crack fracture in composite materials are focused on static loading. However, understanding the mechanism of dynamic fracture in composite materials becomes more and more important with the increased use of composites in modern engineering, where the components are frequently subjected to dynamic loadings; see, for example, [5–8].

Boundary integral equations in elastodynamics of interface cracks.

The paper concerns the validation of a method for solving elastodynamics problems for cracked solids. The proposed method is based on the application of boundary integral equations. The problem of an interface penny-shaped crack between two dissimilar elastic half-spaces under harmonic loading is considered as an example.

Dependence of Equilibrium Griffith Surface Energy on Crack Speed in Phase-Field Models for Fracture Coupled to Elastodynamics

Phase-field models for crack propagation enable the simulation of complex crack patterns without complex and expensive tracking and remeshing as cracks grow. In the setting without inertia, the crack evolution is obtained from a variational energetic starting point, and leads to an equation for the order parameter coupled to elastostatics. Careful mathematical analysis has shown that this is co...

Moving Three Collinear Griffith Cracks at Orthotropic Interface

This work deals with the interaction of P-waves between a moving central crack and a pair of outer cracks situated at the interface of an orthotropic layer and an elastic half-space. Initially, we considered a two-dimensional elastic wave equation in orthotropic medium. The Fourier transform has been applied to convert the basic problem to solve the set of four integral equations. These set of ...

A Bem- and Adjoint Variable-based Approach to Crack Shape Sensitivity Analysis

This communication addresses a computation strategy, based on the adjoint variable approach and BIE/BEM formulations of the direct problem, for evaluating crack or void shape sensitivities of objective functionals. Boundary-only expressions for such sensitivities are sought, in the context of linear elastodynamics. In the case of a void, boundary-only expressions for sensitivities of integral f...

Cement-Implant Interface Fracture Failure by Crack Initiation Due to Interface Cavity Stress Concentration

Nowadays total joint replacements are widely used in the world, so in average 800,000 joint surgeries are done yearly only in Europe and North America. However implant loosening is and remains as the major issue of all implant failures and therefore causes revision surgery procedures. Studies and experiments have identified poor fixation of implants most likely is the main cause of long term im...
